Prevention:
There are a few simple precautions you can take to reduce your dog’s chance of anal glad problems:
- Keep your dog slim. Overweight dogs generally have weaker muscles around their bottom which makes gland emptying more difficult. Keep your dog at a healthy weight and feed them a good quality complete dog food.
- Regular checks. If your dog frequently suffers with blocked anal glands, they may require regular vet/veterinary nurse visits to have them checked. You will quickly become an expert at spotting the signs of an anal gland problem developing.
- Fibre. Adding extra fibre to your dog’s diet can help to firm-up and bulk-out their poo. As a result, when your dog goes to the toilet their stool will press on the anal glands and help to empty them. Sugar free bran flakes or bran powder is often the best way to add fibre to your dog’s diet. Speak to your vet for more information.

It was difficult to find a cold-pressed kibble that had support for older dogs, but finding not only that but one that also had prebiotics and probiotics as well was a bonus. My Golden loves it, the kibble is a good size for him.
Very good value for money, sufficiently sturdy for a growing Labrador .Easy to assemble and it doesn't rattle on rough country lanes which is a bonus .
Fits in the boot of a 2021 Toyota rav 4.It doesn't leave a lot of room for shopping/ luggage, but better that than an exuberant dog bouncing around in the back of the car.
I used these panels to outfit my Toyota van with and adapted them to travel cages. Excellent result.
Good quality crate and very speedy delivery
Unfortunately owing to some fittings in our car and after my careful measuring it still won't fit. Also took the car to the garage to remove some bits but still no luck. So have been in touch to try and have this one collected and replaced with smaller size. Haven't heard anything yet but hopefully soon.
Other than that lovely sturdy crate.
